MCT Tag It Tuesday: Mother's Day Flowers

Did you hop with us over the weekend to see the 31st Release? It. Was. Awesome.

I was so inspired by Lee-Ann's project that I knew I had to try using the new flowers on kraft colored card stock with the ghost stamping technique.

Since our theme for today's tag was floral, I had the perfect opportunity to try it out.

I used the Tag Dies for my base and stamped all of my flowers in white first. Then I went back and stamped them in fun, bright colors a little off of the white (that's the "ghost stamping" technique). The rosette at the top gives a bit more oomph to the tag, don't you think?

I added a little sparkle with some Stickles on the center flower and dotted on the tag base.

MCT 31st Release Blog Hop: Lamp Post Father's Day Card

Today I'm showcasing the brand new Wishing You Were Here set. One of my favorite things about MCT products is their versatility. This set comes with a stamp AND die for the lamp post, but I've decided to only use the die. I've kept the design of this card clean and simple - perfect for a masculine card.

It's difficult to see in the photo, but the tiled floor has been embossed to be shiny. The sentiment is from an older set, More Gift Card Sentiments. I rounded the stamp on my block to achieve the arced look.

Wishing You Were Here

I outlined the lamp post in a light gray Copic marker for a shadow effect and popped it up for dimension. The die comes with two small dies to layer on top for the light, but I used my pen blade to cut out the light windows of the lamp post and put a Copic-colored piece of white card stock behind it.

MCT 31st Edition Sneak Peek: Running Journey Birthday Card

It's Release Week at My Creative Time and today we're showcasing two new sets: Main Street + Way To Go.

These sets are great for many occasions and work well for more masculine cards as well. I've used them to create a birthday card for my oldest brother, Donal.

Have you ever had an idea in your head that seems like it will be AMAZING. For this card, I had planned on using the bicycle die from Way To Go (I'm sure you've seen it in other sneak peeks today) in front of the buildings so that they looked farther away. But instead, it just blocked the buildings from view. So I had resigned to leaving the road empty.

That was until...

I showed The Hubs. Knowing who the card was for, he said, "It would be really cool if you had a little runner there!"

BRILLIANT!!!

I love that man.

The little runner is from You Are Here, while the rest of the stamps are from the new sets. Of course, I also thought it would be a fabulous idea to cut out all the little windows in the buildings. I wasn't too fond of the idea when I was halfway through and sick of cutting them out, but I had already committed.

Donal is a new runner and is one of the many family members who will be joining The Hubs and I in running for Hope Water Project. He's running the Detroit Half Marathon in October.

MCT Try Me Tuesday - Ghost Stamping: Half Marathon Inspiration

Last year I trained for and ran my first full marathon. It was an incredible journey! During training and even right after crossing the finish line, I was adamant that it would be my one and ONLY full marathon. I knew I'd continue running, but 26.2 miles wasn't going to show up again in my future.

Never say never, right?

A week later, I was excited at the thought of training just one more time for that full marathon medal. Since The Hubs and I are interested in starting a family next year, I figure that this is my last viable year before kids to train hard. And I'm proud to say that our dedication to our training has inspired MANY family members to jump on board and sign up to run this year's Detroit International Half Marathon in October.

This encouragement card is for my sister-in-law, Christina. This is her first time ever running and she's doing such a great job of sticking with the training schedule. I'm so proud of her.

I printed the words on my computer directly onto my card base, leaving room for the 13.1 die cut-outs. After cutting out my mileage number, I adhered a square of turquoise card stock behind the card front with pop-dots to add dimension.

For the Ghost Stamping technique, I first stamped my feet in white and then stamped them again (a little 'off') in turquoise. It's a subtle effect on this color card base, but adds a bit of flair.
