MCT Manly Monday: Mounted Birthday Card

by Veronica

It's no secret that masculine cards can be difficult to create. We have so many flowers and cute little critters to use on our projects, but sometimes the guys get shafted.

Last Christmas, I requested a Silhouette Cameo and have used it for a lot of invitation and stationery projects so far. Just recently, I started using it for scrapbooking and card making creations. I purchased a set of mounted deer heads the other day with some free credits I had that were soon to expire. When asked to make a 'manly' card, I knew exactly what I would be using!

This card is for my brother, Dan's, 33rd birthday in November. With the baby due on November 15th, I know I won't have time to make Dan a birthday card, so I figured I'd have it ready early.

MCT Products Used
Scalloped Stitched Oval Dies
Grainy Wood Background
The Sky is the Limit (banner die)
To A Cute Little Chickie ("Happy")
Happy Everything ("birthday")

I'm really loving the neutral color scheme with pop of shimmery gold on this card. For now, it'll be set aside to be sent out later. And to be honest, knowing me, it'll probably be sent out late.

Check out more Manly Monday projects on Emma's blog!

I hope you were inspired!

MCT Inspire Me Wednesday: Dino Card

by Veronica

The Hubs and I have been so blessed by the many well-wishes and sweet gifts that we've received for Baby K (due in November). Just a couple of days ago, an unexpected package arrived in my mailbox and I was blown away when I saw what was inside.

My DT sister, Ruthie, sent us these beautiful handmade burp cloths and bibs! And wouldn't you know that they totally coordinate with our color scheme!!!

I've used the colors and patterns of these awesome gifts to create a thank you card to send to her.

As you can see, our theme for Baby K is dinosaurs, and the MCT set, Prehistoric Holidays is perfect for this! I kept the layout simple to draw more focus to my cute little dinosaur. He is framed using the Stitched Square Dies Inside & Out. I added some glossy accents to my dino for a bit more interest and texture.

Thanks for dropping by today. Head over to Emma's blog to see what the other designs have created.

I hope you were inspired!

MCT 47th Release Blog Hop: Masked Christmas Tag

by Veronica

Hello, hello!

It's a beautiful day for a Blog Hop, isn't it? If you've arrived here from Ruthie's blog, you're on the right track. If not, you can start this Hop from the beginning at Emma's blog. You WON'T want to miss a thing!

Today, I'm showcasing the new Holidays Tags stamps & dies set (available for pre-order NOW). I love to add special tags to my Christmas packages. Some years, I make them myself. Other years, I find something super cute in the store and just pick those up. Let me tell you: there's no shame in that! In the end, the pretty package is the main goal. With this new set, though, I'll definitely be making my tags this year.

This sweet little tag was dreamed up and put together in about four minutes. Really. To achieve the white 'block' for the "to:, from:", I simply masked that area before stamping the Grainy Wood Background onto my white layer. Here's a simple step-by-step on that process:
  1. Die cut white tag layer.
  2. Cut rectangle from sticky part of Post-It note. This is your 'mask'.
  3. Stick mask to center of white tag layer.
  4. Stamp Grainy Wood Background onto masked white tag layer.
  5. Remove mask.
It's that easy! I think that just stamping the "to:, from:" on the wood pattern would have been a bit too busy/messy looking. This gives a very clean look.

To accent my little tree, I used a white gel pen to add snow markings.

MCT 47th Edition Sneak Peek: Dec 25th Gift Card Holder

by Veronica

Hello and welcome to another Sneak Peek of the MCT New Release! Today we are showcasing the brand new Stitched Treat Sleeve Die and dec25th Die (our freebie for this month!).

I don't have a lot of reasons for treats, really, so I love to use MCT dies as gift card holders! Since this die gives a little extra room for treats, I've added some shredded filler paper and it works perfectly!

I also used the new Belly Band Dies to dress up my sleeve. It's a simple design that only uses dies, so it would be perfect to make several of these for little Christmas thank you gifts (hairdresser, mail person, etc.) or for those teenagers in your life that you have NO idea what to get!

***Sneak Peek Giveaway!***
We will be giving away the sets we are showcasing each day to ONE lucky winner! Today's winner will be announced tomorrow in Emma's video on her blog.

For a chance to win, simply leave a comment on each of our blogs! You are NOT required to comment on every blog, but the more you comment on, the better chance you have for winning!

MCT Made In Minutes: Dino Gift Card Holders

by Veronica

Hello, hello! This is a very exciting week for me: my baby shower is this Saturday!!! I love any reason to get together and celebrate, but I'm especially thrilled to celebrate the upcoming arrival of our baby boy.

Since Baby K's nursery is dinosaur-themed, it seemed natural to coordinate the baby shower to the same theme and colors. And since I'm a graphic designer by day, it was pretty easy for me to make sure that everything coordinated.

For raffle prizes, we'll be giving away gift cards to Target, Starbucks and Amazon. While I didn't feel the need to make a big to-do about the packaging, I wanted to make sure they were cute and coordinated with our theme.

To create this holder, I cut the Scallop Stitched Envelope out of my base color and used super sticky tape to adhere it together. You might notice that the flaps on my envelopes don't have a scallop. To get more bang for my buck, I first cut my 8.5" x 11" cardstock in half to get two envelopes out of one full sheet. The die itself is a little bit wider than a half sheet, so I simply let the scallop part hang off when I ran it through my die cutting machine.

I attached the gift cards to the Stitched 3x4 Journal Die with glue dots (after printing my cute little row of dinos on the white cardstock). The journal die slips right inside the envelope - perfect fit!

A dino medallion was attached to the simple belly band and we were good to go!

To give our winners a choice of gift cards, I coordinated the color of the envelope with the company:

Red = Target, Green = Starbucks, and Blue = Amazon

I'm hoping to check back in with photos from the shower soon! Thanks for stopping by today. Check out Emma's blog for more projects you can make in minutes.

I hope you were inspired!
