MCT 41st Release Blog Hop: Cards for Mom

by Veronica

It's Release Day for My Creative Time! If you've hopped here from Ruthie's blog, you're on the right track. If not, head on over to Emma's blog so you don't miss out on a THING!

I know it's a bit early for Mother's Day, but I like to have my cards done early so I'm not scrambling at the last minute. Mom, I know you're reading this. Yes, one of these cards is for you. But WHICH ONE? (sneaky, sneaky)

My first card features the new set (available right this very minute!), Love You Bunches.

This stamp set comes with individual flower stems (and coordinating dies) and lots of great sentiments. To achieve my "bouquet" of roses, I stamped the front flowers first, masked them and stamped the rear flowers after. If that's clear as mud, check out this simple tutorial I made a couple of years ago for a step-by-step instruction.

New! Love You Bunches (rose, sentiment) Available NOW!
New! Fun Stitched Tag Dies (sentiment layer) Available NOW!

My next Mother's Day card also uses flowers, but with a totally different look.

This card showcases the new Jr. Rolled Flower Dies. I used a lot of different patterns in coordinating colors to give this card some pizzazz. I love mixing patterns! I've found that mixing smaller patterns works best for me. If you have a large patterned paper that you want to slip into the mix, allow it to be the center of attention (like I did with the "MOM" background) and keep the rest of the patterns pretty small.

MCT Designer Challenge: Color POP!

by Veronica

It's a Designer Challenge day today with My Creative Time. We are trying out the Color Pop Technique. This technique is really easy to do: Keep your project neutral and then add a POP of color!

I used a mix of beige and gray on this card for my neutrals and then popped with some turquoise sequins. This is a super easy card that can be thrown together in minutes, but it really gives a stunning impression.

MCT Products Used
Watercolor Background Stamps
Hello Frame Dies ("thanks")

To get the distressed look on the "thanks" die, I stamped the largest watercolor background stamp onto the white die-cut.

Thanks for stopping by! You can see more awesome Color POP projects on the MCT blog.

MCT Favorite Die of the Month: CAS Thankful Card

by Veronica

Hello! Today we are featuring the Stitched Heart Layering Dies from My Creative Time. I tend to use these dies quite a bit on my projects. For this card, I kept it clean and simple (CAS).

This card started as a single-layer card, but I decided to pop up a little heart for a touch of dimension. Something like this would be perfect to mass-produce and have on hand.

MCT Products Used
Stitched Heart Layering Dies (did I mention these are on SALE right now?!?!)
Build A Pretty Flower (dots)
Something to be Thankful For (sentiment)

Thanks for stopping in today. You can see more projects using the Dies of the Month on Emma's blog.

I hope you were inspired!
