MCT What A Treat Wednesday: Kitty Treat Box

by Veronica

Here's some real talk for you: I'm not a big fan of this project. But sometimes you just have to roll with it, ya know? So here I am - rolling.

While I'm not gung-ho on the overall project, I do really like some of the elements I used and hope that you'll take away a few ideas.
  1. You know those clear plastic sheets that your MCT stamps come on? You can use them for projects! I used one for the clear sleeve on this little treat holder.
  2. I used my Stitched 3x4 Journal Die to wrap around the outside sleeve so that the color/design of the chocolate inside didn't interfere with my kitty and saying. Use what you have in different ways.
  3. Stretch your stamps. Not literally. Think outside of the box. The sentiment on my treat box is from Loyal Friends (a dog stamp set), but I used it to go with my kitty.

That's it for me today. Be sure to check out Emma's blog for some awesome treat projects today.

I hope you were inspired!

Today, I'm featuring the new Hello Frame Dies on my simple, but snazzy card.

This is a different style of card for me. I tend to create in extremes. Either super busy or super CAS. This one is kind of in the middle: not too many layers, but bold patterns and colors. I have to be honest, I hemmed and hawed for a bit deciding whether I should add more stuff to it. But as you can see, I ultimately decided to walk away and leave it be. Do you find yourself being indecisive about your card designs?

MCT Products Used
Stitched 3x4 Journal Die (yellow background layer)
Grainy Wood Background Stamp
Pretty Butterflies & Dragonfly Dies
Live, Love, Laugh & Be Happy (butterfly dots)

MCT 40th Edition Sneak Peek: Missing You Milk Carton

by Veronica

Hey there! All week, Emma and the design team have been sneak-peeking the 40th Edition and tomorrow everything will be available for purchase. Today, we're giving you a little peek at the new Milk Carton Die and Mini Chalkboard Tags.

Whenever I go away overnight, I like to leave a little something on the bed for The Hubs to find. Sometimes it's a card and other times it's a little treat. I played on the fact that "missing" people used to be on the sides of milk cartons. Now that I type that out, it seems a little morbid, but I totally didn't mean for it to be. I think The Hubs will get it and think it's cute. And if he doesn't? Well, he can just open the carton up for some chocolates.

MCT Products Used
Alpha Pack ("MISSING")
Uppercase Fun Dies ("U" die)
Seasonal Greetings (heart die)
NEW! Milk Carton Die Available Friday, 2/20/15
NEW! Mini Chalkboard Tags (banner die and stamp) Available Friday, 2/20/15

I used my white gel pen to write out "already" on the banner. I'm becoming more confident in my hand lettering skills.

***Sneak Peek Giveaway!***
We will be giving away the sets we are showcasing each day to ONE lucky winner! Today's winner will be announced tomorrow in Emma's video on her blog.
For a chance to win, simply leave a comment on each of our blogs! You are NOT required to comment on every blog, but the more you comment on, the better chance you have for winning! Very important: Please leave a way for us to contact you with your comment should you be the lucky winner!

MCT Tag It Tuesday: Yes to the Dress Tag

by Veronica

One of my dearest friends is getting married this July and she's asked me to be a part of her Big Day! Over the last week, she and I have been to four different bridal salons in search of the perfect dress. And see found it!!! To celebrate, I've ordered a custom hanger for her to hang her new bridal gown from. To add a little oomph to the gift, I created this tag.

MCT Products Used
Tag Die
Tag Die Layer
Girls' Night Out Stitched Dies (dress/hanger)
Stitched Party Dies (banner)

Some rhinestones and pearls definitely fancy up this little tag. I've been trying out hand lettering lately, and while I'm not an expert, I've been having a lot of fun playing with it. The best part is that it's not supposed to look perfect! So I can usually give myself a pass on little bumps and hiccups.

Thanks for dropping by to see today's project! You can see more fabulous tags on the MCT blog.

I hope you were inspired!

MCT Designer Challenge: Someone Special Wreath Card

by Veronica

Today is a Designer Challenge day at My Creative Time and you probably won't be surprised that I cheated a little. I love the colors from our inspiration photo, but I decided to tone it down a bit for this birthday card and omit the orange. In hindsight, I totally could have added a small splash of orange in the wreath, but this card has already been sent, so it is what it is! Ah, well...

My card today is for my husband's grandma, Grandma Margie's, 84th birthday. Grandma Margie lives in Kentucky and comes up here to Michigan to stay with my in-laws many times throughout the year for extended periods of time (although, never long enough, in my humble opinion). She is an absolute delight! The Hubs and I have been together since high school, and I'll always remember her sweet hollers when I'd give him kisses hello and goodbye in front of her back then. She'd just giggle and shout in that she could see us in her southern drawl. I've had many wonderful kitchen table chats with Grandma Margie over the last 12 years. One of my favorite memories is when she called me a 'heifer'. Keep in mind, I was probably 18 years old at the time and my fragile ego took it hard. When I told my boyfriend (before he was promoted to The Hubs) what had happened, he started laughing. This was too much for me to bear! He promptly eased my fears when he told me that to Grandma Margie, 'heifer' was a term of endearment. Phew!

Something new I did for this card was to 'deboss' the background. I tend to use embossing folders quite a bit when leaving the background a solid color, but this pattern just wasn't working right for me. So I flipped the layer over to reveal the underside of the embossed card stock and went with it! It's a softer look while still getting the texture and dimension.

MCT Products Used
Pretty Spring Wreaths (wreath and sentiments)
Bunch of Fun Circles Die
Stitched Sweetheart Die

Special Tip: One of the coolest things about photopolymer (clear) stamps is that they are so flexible! The sentiments used here from the Pretty Spring Wreaths stamp set are not curved. I simply curved them on my acrylic block when I set them Easy peasy!

That's it for me today. Thanks for stopping by! You can find more projects from the Design Team at the MCT blog.

I hope you were inspired!
