MCT 48th Edition Sneak Peek: Sweet Baker Birthday Card

by Veronica

Hey there! Today I'm sneak peeking two new sets that are due out tomorrow: Mixed Up for You and Stitched Apron Dies

This card is way early for our niece, Jenna's, birthday. But when I saw these sets, I knew exactly who I'd be using them for. Jenna is 10 and loves to bake - and she's good at it! She's always trying new recipes to bring to family gatherings. I have to say, that I was honored when she asked me for my vanilla buttercream frosting recipe. That's high praise coming from her!

MCT Products Used
New! Mixed Just for You (sentiment) Available Friday
New! Stitched Apron Dies (chef's hat) Available Friday

I added some shading to the chef's hat with my Copic markers for some extra dimension. This is a very simple card, but I think the focal point makes a big impact. I love cards like that!

Thanks for stopping by to see today's Sneak Peek. Be sure to check out the other designers' sneak peeks on Emma's blog. I'll see you back here tomorrow for the Release Blog Hop.

I hope you were inspired!

MCT Manly Monday: Mounted Birthday Card

by Veronica

It's no secret that masculine cards can be difficult to create. We have so many flowers and cute little critters to use on our projects, but sometimes the guys get shafted.

Last Christmas, I requested a Silhouette Cameo and have used it for a lot of invitation and stationery projects so far. Just recently, I started using it for scrapbooking and card making creations. I purchased a set of mounted deer heads the other day with some free credits I had that were soon to expire. When asked to make a 'manly' card, I knew exactly what I would be using!

This card is for my brother, Dan's, 33rd birthday in November. With the baby due on November 15th, I know I won't have time to make Dan a birthday card, so I figured I'd have it ready early.

MCT Products Used
Scalloped Stitched Oval Dies
Grainy Wood Background
The Sky is the Limit (banner die)
To A Cute Little Chickie ("Happy")
Happy Everything ("birthday")

I'm really loving the neutral color scheme with pop of shimmery gold on this card. For now, it'll be set aside to be sent out later. And to be honest, knowing me, it'll probably be sent out late.

Check out more Manly Monday projects on Emma's blog!

MCT Tutorial Thursday: Glazed Donut Card

by Veronica

Hey there! Along with our projects today, the MCT Design Team will be showing you tutorials on how to achieve the different techniques we've used.

When coming up with my technique, I wanted to be sure to show you something that I've actually done. This one is super simple and adds just a touch of shine to your projects.

On my last project, I used Crystal Effects to get a shiny gloss on my hearts. This technique, which I've dubbed "glazing" for today's donut card, gives a similar look without all of the drying time. This card uses the We're Better Together stamp set.

You'll also notice that the 'glaze' on this card isn't as perfect as on the Happy Fishies card from a couple of days ago. It has a texture to it.

Glazing Instructions

1. Die cut the donut shapes out of your desired colors of cardstock.

2. Ink the donut frosting stamp in clear Versamark and stamp it onto the frosting shape.

3. Cover the Versamarked frosting shape with clear embossing powder and heat.

Final Product: A shiny, glazed donut!

*I used this same technique for the chocolate sprinkles on the edge of my card base.

After adhering my donut together with pop dots, I added different color sprinkles to the glaze.

Handy Tip: All of the MCT dies give you an easy way to release your shapes from the metal die once cut. Some dies are "open" and others are "closed" and have little holes that you can slip a poker tool through to pop out the shape (like the donut dies shown in the first instruction photo). The sprinkles die is closed and the little shapes get stuck in the die after cutting. This is a good thing!!! Instead of poking them all out and then fishing for them on your craft table, simply dot your glue on your donut where you want the sprinkles to go and then poke them out onto the glue spots. Easy peasy!

That's all for me today! Be sure to drop by Emma's blog to see the other great tutorials that the designers have in store for you.

I hope you were inspired!

MCT 45th Edition Sneak Peek: Little Lady Card

by Veronica

It's another Sneak Peek day with My Creative Time! Only one more day until all of the fabulous goodies we've been teasing you with will be available for you to purchase.

This card was created for our now 10-year-old niece, Jenna's, birthday.

Who says you have to have balloons, cake and "birthday" sentiments for a birthday card? I used the brand new (releasing tomorrow) stamp set, Hey There Little Lady, plus my Bunch of Fun Circle Dies to bring this simple card to life. Sometimes, I like to use a LOT of products, but it's nice to keep it simple every once in a while.

MCT 43rd Edition Sneak Peek: Chalkboard Birthday Bag

by Veronica

Gift cards are such an easy (and appreciated) gift to give, right? But it can be boring just shoving them in a card - even if the card is super cute. My Creative Time has so many awesome dies to use to package your gift cards, and Emma has added another!

Of course, this sweet little paper bag is good for more than just gift cards (jewelry, small trinkets) and I just love how cute some tissue paper looks peeking out of the top.

This die needs to be cut out twice and taped together to make the bag. Emma made the holes for the handles the perfect size to add some jumbo eyelets to finish it off. And if the bag wasn't cute enough, this set comes with some awesome chalkboard inspired sentiments.

Stitched Party Dies (balloons)

MCT Made In Minutes: Party Animal Birthday Card

by Veronica

Hey there! It's another Made In Minutes day with the MCT design team. If you've ever crafted with me, you know that NOTHING is ever "made in minutes" by my hands. I'm not a very efficient crafter. But theoretically, this card could be made in minutes if I chose to make it again. Does that count?

This card was sent to my Grandma last week for her birthday. See, Grandma? I told you that your card hadn't been posted on my blog yet! Tada! I used several MCT dies to give this card dimension and texture. The modern color scheme really make it pop.

MCT Products Used
Let's Celebrate ("PARTY" dies)
Stitched Party Dies (banners)
You Had Me At Meow (cat)
Birthday Buddies (hat)
Alpha Pack ("ANIMAL")
Bunch of Fun Circle Dies (wavy circle layer)

My little flufferbottom, Harley
I colored the kitty with my Copics and tried my best to make him look like my own kitty, Harley.

That's it for me today! You can see more projects that you can Make In Minutes on Emma's blog.

MCT 42nd Edition Sneak Peek: Cute & Classy Cards

by Veronica

It's that time again! My Creative Time has yet ANOTHER fabulous release to share with the world (tomorrow! squeal!).

Today, we're showcasing TWO fabulous new products. Let's begin with the new Thanks for the Lift stamp set (coordinating dies included).

First up is my "cute" card for the day. This simple and quick-to-put-together card will be for our nephew, Mason's, third birthday in May. The plane is so perfect for little boy cards! The sentiments in this new set are straight across, but are easily bendable to fit in the flying banner shape (and banner shapes from other sets, too).

For the city skyline, I literally just hacked up some funky rectangles out of scrap paper. Not a lot of thought or energy went into that and it turned out super cute!

And now for my "classy" card...

The name of the game today is SIMPLE. This super easy card features this month's Freebie Stamp, Enjoy the Little Things. This stamp will be a FREE gift to the first 150 shoppers when the release goes live tomorrow at 8am PST. If you miss out on being one of the first 150 shoppers, you can still purchase this stamp along with the rest of the release.

MCT Products Used
Build a Pretty Flower (tiny circle stamp for confetti)
Love To Learn  (school badge die)
New! Enjoy the Little Things (available tomorrow!)

MCT Designer Challenge: Someone Special Wreath Card

by Veronica

Today is a Designer Challenge day at My Creative Time and you probably won't be surprised that I cheated a little. I love the colors from our inspiration photo, but I decided to tone it down a bit for this birthday card and omit the orange. In hindsight, I totally could have added a small splash of orange in the wreath, but this card has already been sent, so it is what it is! Ah, well...

My card today is for my husband's grandma, Grandma Margie's, 84th birthday. Grandma Margie lives in Kentucky and comes up here to Michigan to stay with my in-laws many times throughout the year for extended periods of time (although, never long enough, in my humble opinion). She is an absolute delight! The Hubs and I have been together since high school, and I'll always remember her sweet hollers when I'd give him kisses hello and goodbye in front of her back then. She'd just giggle and shout in that she could see us in her southern drawl. I've had many wonderful kitchen table chats with Grandma Margie over the last 12 years. One of my favorite memories is when she called me a 'heifer'. Keep in mind, I was probably 18 years old at the time and my fragile ego took it hard. When I told my boyfriend (before he was promoted to The Hubs) what had happened, he started laughing. This was too much for me to bear! He promptly eased my fears when he told me that to Grandma Margie, 'heifer' was a term of endearment. Phew!

Something new I did for this card was to 'deboss' the background. I tend to use embossing folders quite a bit when leaving the background a solid color, but this pattern just wasn't working right for me. So I flipped the layer over to reveal the underside of the embossed card stock and went with it! It's a softer look while still getting the texture and dimension.

MCT Products Used
Pretty Spring Wreaths (wreath and sentiments)
Bunch of Fun Circles Die
Stitched Sweetheart Die

Special Tip: One of the coolest things about photopolymer (clear) stamps is that they are so flexible! The sentiments used here from the Pretty Spring Wreaths stamp set are not curved. I simply curved them on my acrylic block when I set them Easy peasy!

That's it for me today. Thanks for stopping by! You can find more projects from the Design Team at the MCT blog.

MCT Favorite Die of the Month: Beary Special Day Card

by Veronica

This month, we are featuring one of our favorite die set: Teeny Tag Layering Dies. I've created this card for my youngest niece, Elsie's 1st birthday.

MCT Products Used
Teeny Tag Layering Dies
Beary Special Thoughts (sentiment and bear)
Stitched Party Dies (banner)
Watercolor Background Stamp

To personalize this card, I wrote Elsie's name on the teeny tag and tied it onto the card with some linen thread. This card was made before the Bear Dies were available, but lucky YOU, you can purchase the dies to save yourself the time of fussy-cutting the sweet little bear out!

Heads-up: The Teeny Tag Layering Dies are on sale through January 31 at 11:59pm, so if this set of dies has been on your wishlist, now is a great time to add them to your collection!

Thanks so much for stopping by today. You can check out the MCT blog for more projects using these dies.

MCT Made In Minutes: SPECtacular Birthday Card

by Veronica

This weekend, we celebrated our niece, Evelyn's, 8th birthday. Wow! I can't believe how fast she's growing up!!! This simple, but so perfect-for-Evy birthday card was made just for her.

MCT Products Used
What's Growing On? (glasses die)
Alpha Pack (letters to create sentiment)
Stitched Square Speech Bubbles (speech bubble die)

I've been seeing a lot of sequins being used lately, and I must say, I wasn't a huge fan of the trend myself. But then I bought my own sequins...

...and of course, now I love them. They are such a simple little something to add dimension and flair to a card.

Thanks for stopping by today. There are more Made In Minutes projects to see on Emma's blog (plus winners from last week's 5 Days of Christmas!) Check it out!

MCT Made In Minutes: Oh Deer Birthday Card

by Veronica

I honestly can't remember a time I've made a project "in minutes". Like, ever. One card will usually take me an hour or more to dream up, create, edit, re-do, hem-and-haw over, and then complete. And don't even get me started on scrapbook layouts. Let's just say that twice a year I go away to "Scrap Camp" for a weekend and come home boasting to The Hubs about how I completed "x" number of projects (which I can usually count on one hand).

But I suppose this card could be done in minutes if I were to re-create it. So that counts, right?

MCT Products Used
Oh Deer ("oh deer" & deer dies)
Seasonal Greetings (tree stamps and dies)
Stitched Decorative Banner Die (shape for sentiment)
Celebrate Good Times ("it's your Birthday!")
Birthday Buddies (birthday hat)
Fun Stitched Edges Die (to make hills)

I used a black marker and white gel pen to color some accents on the deer so he looked less like Donner and more like Daniel (this card is for my brother, Dan, after all). I cut his antlers out a second time in kraft to layer them. A little bit of Crystal Effects dots the hills for some added interest.

Thanks for stopping by today! You can see what the other designers have created for today's Made In Minutes on the MCT blog.

MCT 35th Edition Sneak Peek #1: Wish Big Candle Card

by Veronica

Welcome, welcome to another Release Week with My Creative Time! We're kicking this week off with a sneak peek of Fun Vertical Greetings. This stamp set coordinates well with the Embossed Gift Card Holder Die, but I've used it on a card here.

I stamped the "Wish Big" sentiment from the new set onto the birthday candles that I fashioned using two dies that weren't originally created to be candles. It's so fun to look at dies in a new way!

The candle base was created using the medium Stitched Decorative Banner Die. I extended the die to allow for the sentiment to fit. (There's an easy-to-follow video made by another crafter on extending dies here.)

The flame was created with the ornament die from Warm Holiday Fun. I cut it out in white and colored it with my Copics.

MCT Head of the Class Blog Hop

by Veronica

Hello! You've probably come here from Kim's blog. If not, you can start this awesome Hop from the beginning at Emma's blog.

Back to school already?!?! Didn't summer just begin? I don't have kids quite yet, so the "Back to School" season doesn't affect me too much - other than the fact that one of my very good friends is a teacher, so when she gets back to work, I lose my daytime running buddy.

My brother and his family just moved last month, so my seven-year-old niece, Evelyn, will be starting at a new school this year.

This card features the NEW pencil die included in the Love to Learn die + stamp set (available right now!). It works so well with the past MCT goodies I've used on this card, too:

Alpha Pack (sentiment)
Fun Letter Background
Get Schooled (paper lines)

This release isn't JUST for "Back to School", though. I've used the new Uppercase Fun Dies for a birthday card for The Hubs.

The story behind the card:
Many moons ago, my brother was later-than-usual coming home from a party. My Mom and I were paging him (remember, I said MANY moons ago) for hours and when we finally got a hold of him, his response was that he was "d@#n near 21" and that we shouldn't be worrying so much about him. That phrase has stuck with my family since then.

The Hubs will be 29 in September, so this 'family phrase' is perfect for his "nearly 30" birthday card!
*************************

Along with the Uppercase Fun Dies, I've used:

Alpha Pack ("YOU'RE")
Social Media Dies ("@#")
Stitched 4x6 Journal Die ("30")
Stitched Decorative Banner Dies
Bunch of Fun Circle Dies
What's Growing On? (mustache die)

MCT 34th Edition Sneak Peek: Typed Birthday & Golden Grain Congrats Card

by Veronica

It's Release Week at My Creative Time again! Today we're showcasing a few new items, so I have two projects to share.

This first card is for my mother-in-law who will be celebrating her birthday in just a few weeks. It features the new Fun Letter Background and Large Cloud Bubble Edge Die (you asked, Emma answered).

My Creative Time products work seamlessly together. It's so easy to combine previous releases with new products! I've done that here with the Typewriter Stamp and Die and banner from the Stitched Party Dies. The sentiment was made using individual words from Chocolate Greetings. For the period puncuation mark at the end, I simply inked up the 'dot' of an "i" and stamped it after "birthday".

My second project is a card for my cousin's upcoming bridal shower.

This card showcases another new background stamp available with this Release on Friday: Grainy Wood Background. I stamped it here in Versamark and heat embossed it in gold. The dots are from Build a Pretty Flower and were stamped in Versamark and heat embossed in clear for a subtle, but shiny effect.

This card also uses flowers from Build a Pretty Flower, the Pretty Butterflies Dies (Click here to see an example of how I built my butterfly) and a small flower from Pretty Spring Wreaths. The sentiment comes from Vintage Sentiments and is stamped on a a flag that was modified using the die from Vintage Stitched Label Dies.

MCT Inspiration Wednesday: FIFA Birthday Card

by Veronica

Today we're sharing projects that we were 'inspired' to make. Last week, our almost-11-year-old nephew, Zack, stayed a few days with us. He and The Hubs both love soccer, so you can bet that the World Cup games were on in our house!

They even went outside and played soccer with the boys next door. Yep, The Hubs went outside to play, too. I think he was just waiting for an excuse (Zack) to go play!

Zack's birthday is coming up next week. I knew that a FIFA inspired birthday card would be perfect for him, so I Googled the World Cup logo and found this interesting parrot image. Now, its not the official World Cup logo, but the bright colors really caught my eye and the shapes seemed like fun.

I cut the shapes by hand, imitating the shapes that make up the parrot in my inspiration image. The "Happy" was cut out in white card stock and then colored with my Copics to coordinate with the shapes.

MCT Products Used
Soccer Stamp Set  (soccer ball)
Bunch of Fun Circle Dies (for soccer ball)
Happy Thoughts ("Happy" die)
Vintage Label Dies (flag die)
Card Sentiments ("Birthday")

MCT Made In Minutes: Birthday in Paris

by Veronica

Today at My Creative Time we are created projects that can be "Made in Minutes". My sister's birthday is this week, so I made this card for her. I'll try my best to remember to send it out on time.

This card looks more elaborate than it actually is. Using dies and lots of layers is a great way to achieve a detailed design without spending a lot of time.

MCT Products Used
Pretty Butterflies & Dragonfly Dies
Fly Away With Me Sentiments (flag die)
Stitched Postage Frame Die
Springtime in Paris ("Happy Birthday", Eiffel Tower stamp & die)
Build A Scripty & Watercolor Background  (subtle script background in postage die)
Fun Stitched Edges Dies  (scalloped edge)

Fun tip: "Building" your butterflies is easy. Just cut out the shape a few times, trim the pieces and layer them together. Be sure to leave the bottom layer full so that you have a base to build on.

Thank you for stopping by today. You can check out the MCT blog for more great Made In Minutes projects from the other designers.

MCT Tag It Tuesday: Sweet Birthday Tag

by Veronica

For today's Tag It Tuesday, I've created a little cupcake tag for our niece, Jenna's, birthday present. She'll be nine in July and loves to bake.

Isn't that little cupcake purse adorable? I didn't even realize until my 'photo shoot' that the sprinkles light up when it hits something. So cute! And she'll love wearing the necklace and cupcake rings, too.

MCT Products Used
Celebrate Good Times (cupcake dies)
Chocolate Greetings ("BIRTHDAY", "WISHES", "FOR YOU", flag die)
Life Is Good ("Sweet")

Thanks for stopping by to see today's tag. You can see more adorable tags on the My Creative Time blog.

MCT Made In Minutes: Floral Birthday Card

by Veronica

It can be really difficult for me to make something "in minutes". Usually, I spend a lot of time adding layers and tons of embellishments and a card that was supposed to be easy peasy ends up taking an hour or more.

Sometimes simple is the way to go, though.

This card was created for my sister-in-law's birthday. She's three days older than me and I make sure she knows it!

I used Build a Pretty Flower, Pretty Spring Wreaths, and Floral Sentiments on a single layer of card stock to make this card super simple, but elegant. The bright colors are so cheery and the black outlines, swirls and dots add great contrast.

Thanks for stopping by to check out today's project. Be sure to pop by the MCT blog to see what other great Made In Minutes projects the designers have created today.

MCT 31st Edition Sneak Peek: Running Journey Birthday Card

by Veronica

It's Release Week at My Creative Time and today we're showcasing two new sets: Main Street + Way To Go.

These sets are great for many occasions and work well for more masculine cards as well. I've used them to create a birthday card for my oldest brother, Donal.

Have you ever had an idea in your head that seems like it will be AMAZING. For this card, I had planned on using the bicycle die from Way To Go (I'm sure you've seen it in other sneak peeks today) in front of the buildings so that they looked farther away. But instead, it just blocked the buildings from view. So I had resigned to leaving the road empty.

That was until...

I showed The Hubs. Knowing who the card was for, he said, "It would be really cool if you had a little runner there!"

BRILLIANT!!!

I love that man.

The little runner is from You Are Here, while the rest of the stamps are from the new sets. Of course, I also thought it would be a fabulous idea to cut out all the little windows in the buildings. I wasn't too fond of the idea when I was halfway through and sick of cutting them out, but I had already committed.

Donal is a new runner and is one of the many family members who will be joining The Hubs and I in running for Hope Water Project. He's running the Detroit Half Marathon in October.

Thanks for dropping by today! Head over to Emma's blog to see what the other designers have created.

I hope you were inspired!
